This painting is the result of my first attempt at putting paint on canvas (or any other surface aside from the walls of my house). I purchased a set of inexpensive brushes and a few basic paint colors and started painting. After seeing a Christmas box with a stone barn on it I figured I would paint a barn made from stone (thinking there was not really a wrong way to paint stone). Soon enough, the barn began to take on a very realistic look. Enthused with what I had done, I added wooden doors, then some snow, evergreen trees, a few birds, and a cozy little home. If you look closely in the window you will see the silhouette of a man holding out a dog “treat” and a little dog jumping up to get it (in memory of my dad and our family dog, Mitzie).
